WORCESTER, MA, — Buzz Lanes started out as a small idea for a Business Model Competition at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After winning and continuing on to the semifinalist round at Harvard University, Buzz Lane’s founders knew they had a great idea and they are now making it a reality.
To be able to succeed, new upcoming bands need three things: a big fan base, economic support, and high-quality material. Most of the time the bands can only concentrate on one of these three pillars for their growth. Buzz Lanes has the potential to solve this problem by supporting the bands with economical incentives, accelerate their exposure, and give feedback about their songs!
Music fans will be able to subscribe for $5 a month to the service and receive three download-able songs each week. Once they listen to the songs, they will rank the bands based on their preferences and if the band they support wins “band of the week”, the fan will have the chance to win a special reward during the last week of the month! On that week, they will vote for the best song of the month. If the band they support wins, the fan will receive a reward based on the winning band.
Musicians will select one song they want to submit to the competition and once their song is competing, they will decide the “fan reward” if their song wins “band of the month”. When their song is up and running, they will try to get as many votes as they can and if they win “band of the month”, they will receive a cash prize and are entered for “band of the year”. They can track their performance and keep competing with new songs!
It’s a win-win situation: musicians grow their fan base and connect with new fans, and the fans will always have the opportunity to find new music they haven’t heard before!
