Artist Info: Guitar Shorty, aka David Kearney, began playing guitar at an early age. When other kids were in high school, Shorty was a student by day and a working musician by night. Right out of high school, Shorty joined Ray Charles and his band for a year. Shorty recorded his first single “You Don’t Treat Me Right” in 1957 under the direction of Willie Dixon. He eventually moved to New Orleans and joined Slim’s band. While in New Orleans, Shorty fronted his own group, which became the house band at the legendary Dew Drop Inn. There, he played with such greats as T. Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner and Little Richard. He released his first album On the Rampage in 1985 and has since released 12 studio albums, including 2010’s Bare Knuckle.
