Walks announces exciting new London tour
Alone with the Rosetta Stone
As part of its commitment to developing unique cultural experiences in iconic cities all over the world, Walks is proud to announce the addition of a brand-new tour to their ever-expanding global portfolio.
From summer 2019, Alone with the Rosetta Stone: VIP at the British Museum ($114.88 USD, takewalks.com) will offer human history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike a new way to appreciate some of the most important artifacts from the British Museum’s celebrated collection, as they are given special access to experience the remarkable institution before it opens to the public.
Alone with the Rosetta Stone offers guests of Walks a truly rare experience: the chance to spend the early morning in an almost eerily still and undisturbed British Museum, and of course precious time alone with one of its most important treasures – the Rosetta Stone.
One lucky guest of Walks will even get the chance to physically unlock the door to the Rosetta Stone with the museum key – truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a special history or museum buff! – before their expert Walks guide takes them on a journey through time with fascinating facts about the artifacts before them.
Walks and the British Museum
The addition of Alone with the Rosetta Stone to the Walks’ portfolio marks an exciting new relationship between the highly regarded travel company and the iconic British Museum in London.
“We’re delighted to be able to work with the British Museum to develop something truly unique for the London market,” said Stephen Oddo, co-founder and CEO of Walks. “Not only does this tour show the museum in a rare and beautiful light, it has all the hallmarks of a quintessential Walks tour – it’s elegant, intimate, and a real VIP experience that will undoubtedly be the highlight of anyone’s visit to the British capital.”
Like all Walks tours, the carefully curated journey through the British Museum is led by one of Walks’ hand-picked, experienced guides: “It’s our guides who really make our museum tours come to life,” said Stephen, “their enthusiasm is infectious, and their knowledge unparalleled.”
The British Museum is the latest in a line of iconic institutions to partner with Walks for special access tours. Others include the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York, where Walks runs its celebrated Disney on Broadway tour; St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, where the tour company has secured alone time for guests after its official closing time; and the UK’s Houses of Parliament where guests of Walks are treated to a fully guided visit inside Parliament with one of the most knowledgeable and informed guides in London.
“We’re excited about the chance to work with the British Museum to offer visitors something a little bit special and look forward to creating even more unique events for our own guests in the future,” said Stephen.
